Sonic 2 Dark Sonic

Sonic 2 Dark Sonic is a ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis that replaces the traditional Sonic sprite with a dark-themed version inspired by the anime-style transformation seen in Sonic X. You race through classic zones like Emerald Hill, Chemical Plant, and Casino Night using Dark Sonic, whose visual design includes glowing red eyes and a darker color palette. The gameplay remains faithful to the original mechanics—spin dashes, loop-de-loops, and springboard jumps—while the character skin gives the adventure a completely different visual tone. The hack focuses on aesthetics, so you experience the original level progression and physics with a reworked main character.
