Sonic.EXE 3 and Knuckles is a ROM hack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles that replaces Sonic with the corrupted and sinister version known as Sonic.EXE. You move through the original zones like Angel Island, Hydrocity, and Lava Reef, but character sprites, palettes, and background details reflect the darker tone of the EXE concept. Sonic.EXE uses the same mechanics as classic Sonic, including spin dash and Super transformation, though his design features black eyes with red pupils and eerie animation effects. Level layouts remain unchanged, but the atmosphere shifts with altered music and visuals that reflect the horror-inspired theme.
